Yoga is Everywhere.

Through my years of experience, I have come to understand the emotions and concepts behind the yogic journey. Presenting a series of thematic photographs (taken by me) that visually represent aspects of yoga. Enjoy.

Achievement

In honor of my stepdaughter’s 20th birthday today, I want to acknowledge achievement.  She has achieved much in her 20 years, and we couldn’t be more proud. The discipline it took her to accomplish her goals is admirable and a life skill that will take her far.

I hope to be like her when I grow up.

Stillness

It’s challenging to be still in our go, go, go culture. Yoga encourages stillness in both the body & the mind which leads to less reactivity and a greater ability to focus. Try it now… be still & quiet for 5 minutes. Listen to your breath.

Inner Stillness = Inner Peace.

Vulnerability

Yoga can literally put you in vulnerable positions that make you feel uncomfortable, but it is important to embrace as it helps you to accept what you can’t do well or what scares you. Being vulnerable does not mean being weak. It means you expose your soft underbelly, stop avoiding disappointment or fear, and more openly receive what comes from a place of open heartedness.

Embrace vulnerability!

Acceptance

Like life, yoga can challenge us. We get confronted with discomfort, frustration and difference of opinions that can rock us to the core!  By practicing genuine acceptance for where you are in your body, in your mind or in your life as well as where others might be in their lives, then you can experience peace and joy.

Got to get over the lump…

Yin for the Win!

Two of my students are professional runners. Amazing as I probably could not run a mile.

They are sponsored by Nike & traveling the country embracing every physical opportunity and challenge presented. These girls are my heroes! They began doing Yin yoga with me and found the practice very beneficial for recovery. In my humble opinion, EVERY athlete should have a Yin practice.

Follow Phoebe Wright and Erica Moore, as they trek across the United States on a six-week road trip to promote running and show track fans the real lives of real athletes on an unreal adventure all while incorporating my online Yin yoga classes into their adventures. To follow their journey, check out their blog, Runnin’ the Streets, or follow Phoebe and Erica on Facebook or Twitter @RuntheSts. YogaVibes will also be featuring one blog post per week to highlight the online yoga classes that Phoebe and Erica incorporate into their journey.

Longevity

The awareness gained through practice can help you to achieve quality of life. The discipline allows the body to function better and the mind to be under one’s own control – grounded and secure  but also carefree and trusting.

Yoga is life.

Progress

Every time I get on my mat, I progress. It might be bright & glaring or it might be soft & subtle. These discoveries touch your imagination, enthuse you to your innermost core and keep you coming back for more.

Committment

When you commit to what you are passionate about, then you are able to get out of your own way and make great things happen. Yoga requires dedication and discipline. Once you devote to your practice, soon enough, you’ll feel it. That itch. That inexplicable urge to get on your mat or sit and meditate.

The end result might feel something like this.

The experiences of our elders are valuable.

Aspiration

Yoga is a process. Progression stokes the fire in the belly that makes us yearn for more – be it a challenging physical posture or being able to sit in meditation for 30 minutes. Your body and mind crave the benefits that regular practice yields.

Before you know it, you are ascending great heights. Passion is powerful.
